Project Information
The design of the studio WC reflects Scott Donald's vision for a functional yet highly refined space that exemplifies the studio’s commitment to impeccable detailing and interior design. Unlike a typical domestic shower room, the aim was to create a minimal, almost imperceptible shower space that blends seamlessly into the overall aesthetic.
At the heart of this concept is the Vola 5281D shower, chosen for its elegant design and understated presence. Its clean lines and matte black finish perfectly align with the minimalist ethos of the room. To complement this, every detail was carefully considered, including the selection of door ironmongery that mirrors the aesthetic of the shower fixtures, ensuring visual harmony throughout.
The material palette reinforces the sophisticated simplicity of the space. Dark grey porcelain tiles were selected for their timeless appeal and ability to accentuate the matte black Vola fittings. To minimize visual clutter, Scott designed the tiling with only one horizontal joint running continuously around the room, creating an uninterrupted flow and enhancing the sense of spaciousness.
A particularly innovative touch is the rear of the pivot door, which is clad in matching porcelain. This thoughtful detail ensures visual continuity across all four walls, allowing the room to feel cohesive and seamlessly designed, despite its compact size.
This studio WC is a masterclass in restraint and precision, designed to elevate the everyday functionality of a bathroom into a statement of refined design. It demonstrates how meticulous attention to detail and the right choice of materials can transform even the smallest spaces into a harmonious blend of practicality and beauty.
